The CLEMENTINE Spacecraft, was launched on January the 25th 1994, and performed in 71 days the first multi-spectral systematic mapping of the Moon. The main instrumentation of clementine consists of six cameras : A-STAR, B-STAR , HIRES , UVVIS , LWIR , NIR (documents from USGS ).

The CNES has participated in this mission, by providing the system of images compression aboard, developed by MATRA. These data are distributed by the Planetary Data Systesm on 90 CD-ROMS, and are also available on line (stored on 55 Go drives) thanks to this CNES server.
